Turn a ChatGPT Answer into an Instagram Carousel

A long answer measured against the 4:5 card and split between blocks. The strip under the preview is the carousel, in order.

Why AI answers make good carousels

A carousel wants one idea per slide, a clear opening, and a sequence a reader can follow with their thumb. A well-structured AI answer already has this: a title, a short framing paragraph, a numbered list of points, maybe a closing line.

The structure is there. What is missing is the typesetting.

The step people get wrong

Most people copy the answer into a design tool and then paste chunks into text boxes by hand, guessing where each slide should end. That guess is the expensive part — you find out the last slide has two words on it only after you have styled everything.

Splitting should be measured, not guessed. The text has to be measured against the actual card size at the actual font size, and the break has to land between blocks rather than mid-sentence.

Doing it in one pass

  1. Copy the answer out of ChatGPT or Claude
  2. Paste it into the box on the home page
  3. Leave the size on Instagram — that is 1080x1350, the 4:5 portrait that takes the most vertical space in the feed
  4. Step through the cards and check where the breaks landed
  5. Download the set

The split happens as you type, so if a card looks thin you can edit the source and watch the pagination change.

What good breaks look like

Two rules cover most of it, and both are applied automatically:

  • A heading is never left at the bottom of a card with its content on the next one
  • A list item is never separated from its own sub-items

What is deliberately not enforced is keeping a whole list on one card. Forcing that would push a long list to a new card and leave the previous one half empty. Dense cards that occasionally split a list read better than sparse ones that never do.

Before you post

Write a real caption. The text in your images is invisible to Instagram's search and to anyone using a screen reader, so the caption is doing all the discovery work. Repeat the main point of the first card in the first line of the caption.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an Instagram carousel be?

1080x1350 px — the 4:5 portrait ratio. It takes the most vertical space in the feed, and every slide in a carousel has to share the ratio of the first one.

How many slides should a carousel have?

Instagram allows up to twenty. In practice a set that runs five to ten slides holds attention; past that, most readers stop swiping before the closing card.

Where does the text get split?

Between blocks, measured against the real card size at the real font size. A heading is never orphaned at the bottom of a card, and a list item is never separated from its own sub-items.

Can I export the whole set at once?

Yes. Download ZIP gives you every card numbered in reading order, so the upload keeps the sequence. Single cards can also be copied to the clipboard or saved on their own.
